This morning started off in a lovely way. Clare and I woke up early and decided to watch Beatrix Potter stories from this wonderful collection of movies. However, the result of our watching Benjamin Bunny and Samuel Whiskers was we were running late in getting ready for school. We recovered and pulled ourselves together fairly quickly. I just needed to change Baby Anne so we could get out the door.
And that's when our problems began. I realized I was out of diapers upstairs and needed a package of diapers that was downstairs. Since I already had Anne on the changing table upstairs and couldn't leave her, I called down to Meg and asked her to bring up the diapers. But remembering Meg's arm was hurt and she might not be able to carry the diapers, I asked Clare to do it.
What a mistake! Clare went to get the diapers but Meg tackled her, insisting she could carry them. Clare immediately began sobbing. Meg began to slowly push the diapers up the stairs one step at a time because, in fact, she couldn't carry the diapers with her injured arm. In the ridiculously long amount of time it took Meg to get the diapers to me, Anne, well, shall we say her clothes and changing pad were thoroughly wet. Yikes!
Needless to say, we were quite late to preschool today. Not our best moment. Still, once the moment passed, I just had to laugh about it. Often the most frustrating points of the day make the funniest memories in hindsight.
