We found out Thursday afternoon that Meg's broken finger required surgery. So now I am sitting in an empty waiting room on a Saturday morning trying to hold myself together while my little girl is in the operating room.
I am so grateful for friends right now. Meg's surgery happened to coincide with one of my husband's busiest work days of the year. So friends stepped up. Nicole and her husband took Clare for a day of fun and attention. Another friend met us at the hospital at 9 am this morning to help with Anne so I could be with Meg during surgery prep and sedation. Yesterday practically every mom in our preschool sent me names of sitters to help with the girls during this time. Numerous people offered to watch Anne at their homes if we couldn't find someone to go to the hospital. One mom sent me a late night email just to let me know her daughter had prayed for Meg at bedtime.
With family so far away and surgery scheduled at the last minute, I am just so very grateful for dear friends.
