At the beginning of 2012 I made the decision to make everyday as special as it can be. For me, this conscious effort was an attempt to combat overwhelming anxiety and I'm glad to say it worked. But even more exciting to me was the impact that the make every day special outlook had on my two young daughters--Meg and Clare. They displayed a sense of joy and adventure that reinvigorated me constantly. People--even strangers--would comment on what happy children they were. And inevitably, each day, at least one of my girls would say, "This has been a great day." So now our slogan is a paraphrase from a Winnie the Pooh mug: Today is my favorite day.
Our daily adventures are not complicated--the simpler the better. We live just over the bridge from Washington DC and take full advantage of all the resources that are so close to us. We explore the numerous gardens and museums that are so abundant in the greater DC area. We love parks ranging from the three fabulous county parks that are in easy walking distance from us to the over-the-top parks with carousels and trains that are short drives away. Some of our favorite times are spent at the library discovering new books through story times or by just randomly picking books from the shelf. We can spend hours reading and laughing and we are so very glad our librarians are very accepting of children who are not always on their best behavior.
So that's what this website is about. I'll just be highlighting some of our attempts at making each day our very favorite day.
